Closed Session Minutes

 

I.          President Jim Vega called the closed session meeting to order at 6:31 PM.

Members Present:  Jim Vega, President; Dr. Ken Rosenauer, Vice-President; Dyann Duncan, Susan Garrison, Linda Kozminski, Jennifer Peterson, and Mark Schneeflock.

 

Members Absent: None

 

Others Present:  Dr. David Brax, Superintendent; Dr. Tim Mattson, Assistant Superintendent; Kate Drew, Board Secretary in-training and Janna Wuest, Board Secretary.

 

II.        Jennifer Peterson made the motion to adjourn to closed session for discussion of personnel matters; hiring, firing, disciplining or promoting of employees; and records which are protected from disclosure by law; per section referenced under Section 610.021, subsections 3, 13, and 14 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri and that the minutes and any vote that may occur pertaining to same, be made part of the executive closed session record and be maintained as such.   Linda Kozminski seconded the motion.  Motion carried with the following roll call vote:  Jim Vega - aye, Dr. Ken Rosenauer – aye, Dyann Duncan – aye, Susan Garrison – aye, Linda Kozminski - aye, Jennifer Peterson - aye, Mark Schneeflock - aye.  Motion carried with a 7-0 vote.

 

III.       Linda Kozminski made the motion to adjourn closed session and reconvene work session.  Mark Schneeflock seconded the motion.  Motion carried with the following roll call vote:  Jim Vega - aye, Dr. Ken Rosenauer – aye, Dyann Duncan – aye, Susan Garrison – aye, Linda Kozminski - aye, Jennifer Peterson - aye, Mark Schneeflock - aye.  Motion carried with a 7-0 vote.  TIME:  6:42 PM

 

Work Session Minutes

 

I.          President Jim Vega called the work session meeting to order at 6:48 PM.

 

Members Present:  Jim Vega, President; Dr. Ken Rosenauer, Vice-President; Dyann Duncan, Susan Garrison, Linda Kozminski, Jennifer Peterson, and Mark Schneeflock.

 

Members Absent: None

 

Others Present:  Dr. David Brax, Superintendent; Dr. Tim Mattson, Assistant Superintendent, Kate Drew, Board Secretary In-training and Janna Wuest, Board Secretary.

 

II.        Board President Questions/Issues:  None

 

III.       The Board reviewed the agenda items.

 

IV.       The Board discussed moving item (Free and Reduced Lunches), I (2014-2015 Teacher Salaries), J (2014-2015 Substitute Teacher Salaries), K (2014-2015 Classified Salaries ), L (Food Service Director Salary Adjustment), M (2014-2015 Administrative Salaries), P (Adoption of Policies) to the consent agenda.

 

V.        MSBA Board Report – Dr. Ken Rosenauer discussed what was on the MSBA video. Next

            month video will be shown.

Open Session Minutes

 

I.          President Vega called the open session meeting to order at 7:01 PM.  The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

 

Members Present:  Jim Vega, President; Dr. Ken Rosenauer, Vice-President; Dyann Duncan, Susan Garrison, Linda Kozminski, Jennifer Peterson, and Mark Schneeflock.

 

Members Absent: None

 

Others Present:  Dr. David Brax, Superintendent; Dr. Tim Mattson, Assistant Superintendent, Toni Svuba, Dr. Julia Schmitz, Rachel Peek, Aimee Addington, Troy Dunn, Roxanne Rooney, Barb Maag, Steve Waigand, Clint Howren, Leisa Blair, Kate Drew, Board Secretary In-training and Janna Wuest, Board Secretary.

 

II.        Welcome and Communication from Visitors:  Antoinette Svuba thanked the Savannah R-3 School Board and Administration for their support while she has been President for the Northwest Region of the Missouri State Teachers’ Association.

IV.       Susan Garrison made the motion to place items (Free and Reduced Lunches), I (2014-2015 Teacher Salaries), J (2014-2015 Substitute Teacher Salaries), K (2014-2015 Classified Salaries ), L (Food Service Director Salary Adjustment), M (2014-2015 Administrative Salaries), P(Adoption of Policies) on the consent agenda.  Mark Schneeflock seconded the motion.  Motion passed with a 7-0 vote.

 

V.        Dr. Ken Rosenauer made the motion to adopt the agenda including items placed on the consent agenda.  Dyann Duncan seconded the motion.  Motion passed with a 7-0 vote.

 

A.        Approval of the May 13, 2014 and May 18, 2014 minutes, as presented. 

 

B.        Approval of bills dated:  May 2014 ~ $1,491,540.17.  June 2014 ~ $349,016.06.

                D.        Local Compliance Plan Certification Statement ~ The Board accepted DESE’s                                         requirement to publish a local compliance plan which describes our policies and  
                        procedures for the provision of services to students with disabilities under IDEA, 
                        using Option A, the state plan. 

                               

E.         The Board voted to have Kate Drew as the School Board Secretary.

 

*H.     The Board approved the Free and Reduced Lunch pricing as presented

*I.       The Board approved the 2014-2015 Teacher Salaries as presented. 

·         Increase the base pay on the salary schedule by $1,100 making the base $31, 800.

 

·         The district will allow step and column movement to all eligible certified staff.

 

·         Payout for unused sick leave will increase from $10 to $20 effective July 1, 2014 beginning with the 2014-2015 school year.

 

*J.      The Board approved the 2014-2015 Substitute Teacher Salaries as presented. 

·         Substitute pay to remain the same at $91, and increase long-term substitute pay to $120.

*K.      The Board approved the 2014-2015 Classified Salaries as presented. 

·         Classified employee will receive an additional $500 to his/her wages and then a 3% raise in pay.

 

*L.      The Board approved the Food Service Director Salary Adjustment as presented.

·         Because of added responsibilities and initiatives, the Food Service Director’s salary will increased from $30,300 to $35,000 for the 2014-2015 school year.

*M.     The Board approved the 2014-2015 Administrative Salaries as presented.

·         All administrators will receive a 3% raise for the 2014-2015 school year.

 

            *P.      The Board approved the Adoption of Policies (EBC – Emergency Drills,EBCA –

                        Crisis Intervention Plan, ECA – Building and Grounds Security) as presented. 

 

VI.       Action Items:  Requires Motion

 

F.         General Journal ~ $6,485,260.58.  Dyann Duncan made the motion to approve the general journal, lockbox list, and scholarship report.  Mark Schneeflock seconded the motion.  Motion carried with a 7-0 vote.

G.        Mark Schneeflock made the motion to accept the Food Service Milk, Produce, and Bread Bid as presented.  Susan Garrison seconded the motion.  Motion passed with a 7-0 vote.

O.        Linda Kozminski made the motion to accept the 2014-2015 Budget Recommendation as presented.  Susan Garrison seconded the motion. Motion carried with a 7-0 vote.

           

VII.     District Reports from the Middle School and High School were presented.

 

VIII.    Mark Schneeflock made the motion to adjourn the meeting.  Linda Kozminski seconded the motion.  Motion carried with a 7-0 vote.  TIME: 7:26 PM.
