Welcome to Savannah R-III Schools!
I’m proud to be serving the Savannah community as your superintendent of schools. Savannah R-III Schools have a tradition of high academic standards and a focus on individual student's success. This school district is known across the state, and the country, for outstanding academic, co-curricular and extra-curricular programs. I’m impressed with the hard work of the school board, administrators, educators and support staff members who make this happen.
However, all school must continue to improve to better meet the needs of our students. In November of 2011, the Savannah R-III School Board adopted a three-year strategic plan to address district priorities, goals, and action steps. These priorities are to:
· Increase individual student achievement,
and academic excellence,
· Retain and attract high quality
· Develop stronger community partnerships,
· Maintain a high quality
· Maintain fiscal responsibility and find other means to generate additional revenue.

To share a little bit of my background, I served 36 years as a school administrator and teacher in Kansas at Arkansas City, Winfield, Garnett, Pretty Prairie, Ellinwood, and Buhler before joining the Savannah R-III School District. I also taught for ten years as an adjunct professor at Wichita State University in the area of school finance. My wife, Sue, and I have one daughter, Courtney who is in her final year of schooling at KU Law.
It is my belief that every organization can improve. I’m eager to lead this process for Savannah R-III Schools. Please join me in taking this district to the next level of excellence in student achievement.
