The Savannah High School Art students competed in the Albrecht-Kemper Regional Art Exhibition in Saint Joseph, MO, on Sunday, March 1. There were 176 entries representing 25 schools from around the area.
Each art teacher can only submit five pieces of artwork. SHS has two art teachers, so they were able to send 10 students to competition. The categories these students competed in included Drawing Monochromatic and Multicolor, Painting, Printmaking, Photography, 2d Mixed Media, Ceramics, 3D and Alternative.
Seniors Isaac Andrews, Bailee Belding, Alex Bowie, Jocelynn Kallauner, Jessica Martin, Devin Moore and Maria Stanton and juniors Sydney DeRoin, Devin Kernes and Megan Schussler all competed in this competition.
Martin received Honorable Mention in 2D Mixed Media. Stanton received first place in 3D and Best of Show, which was the highest honor of the competition. She was very excited with the outcome of her performance.
”I am really happy about it, because there were a lot of talented artists there,” Stanton said.
Congratulations to all students who competed in this, and to Stanton, again, for her huge accomplishment!
