Savannah High School’s 2020-2021 Volleyball season has come to an end. Despite having setbacks due to COVID-19, the team persevered and set out to have a great season. They ended the season with an outstanding record of 10-4. The overall season went well, they finished their season off with a loss to Maryville in the District Championship but held their heads high, proud of how the season went. They worked well as a team on and off the court, encouraging each other before, during and after the games.
“This year's team was different from past teams because everyone actually worked together and we all got along with each other and I feel like we got closer because of all the things we had to go through this year,” senior Delaney Wilson said.
No matter the struggles this year, they kept going. The team is proud of how they did despite the losses. They made lasting friendships and pushed themselves harder than ever.
There are seven seniors this year: Rylee Benight, Macie Bryson, Macey Damgar, Emma Dudeck, Emma Kapp, Jaytin Sybert and Wilson. They all hoped to play more games this year but are so grateful to even play at all this year, and they are sad that the season is over.
“I have mixed feelings about it (the season). I'm happy about how we ended and all the memories I made through the years but I'm also sad that it's over and I won't play with the team again,” Wilson said.
The senior girls hope they made a good impact on the underclassmen and hope that the seasons after them go well and they enjoy it while it lasts.
“Play your hardest and always have fun and make memories, it goes by quickly so enjoy it while you can,” Wilson said.
Savannah High School is proud of how the season went and wish the seniors good luck on where they go next, and look forward to seeing what all the girls do next season. Congratulations on a great season, ladies.
