On Feb. 26, the art department at Savannah High School entered into the Albrecht Kemper High School Student Exhibition with works from many students in many different mediums, and many of those works placed very well.
Ten works were submitted in the categories of ceramics, printmaking, sculpture, graphics, painting, alternative-mosaic, drawing and photography. Of those 10 works four of those works placed in the top three of their category. Senior Sydney DeRoin won second place in printmaking with her piece ‘Manipulated Portraits’ and senior Jackson Underwood won second place in photography with his piece ‘At the Light of Dusk’. Junior Aleigha Horton won second place in 3D Sculpture with her piece ‘Tribal Mask’ and sophomore Abby Tolbert won first place in 3D Sculpture with her piece ‘Demon Mask’.
“Mrs. Brammeier and myself are very happy with four students receiving honors and recognition for their work. This has been a hard year to prepare for contests as our work is done mostly in the classroom. So we are proud of all students who entered work and so happy for those who received awards!” art teacher and art club sponsor Mrs. Kayla Hinton said.
Savannah High School would like to congratulate the winners and all students who put in the time and effort to share.
