Have you heard of 'Boxes of Hope'? Each year, our Minnie Cline 5th graders are cleverly paired up with a student from a different 5th-grade class that they don't know very well. Over the next few weeks, they must find ways to get to know each other better. Before school lets out for winter break, the students decorate a shoe box for their partner and fill it with compliments, a poem, a letter of encouragement, an illustration, and a homemade gift. The lessons taught over the course of this project are not ones that can be learned from math worksheets, textbooks, or AR quizzes. #WeAreSR3 #SR3Family

Do you know one of these 6th graders? Ask them if they ever solved the mysterious case of which reindeer ran over Grandma! #WeAreSR3

SHS is participating in the Buckle Up Phone Down initiative through the Missouri Department of Transportation. The challenge is simple: when you get into any vehicle, buckle up your safety belt. If you are a driver, put the cell phone down. Turn it off if you have to. Every trip, every time! Accept the challenge and challenge a friend, relative or members of your community to buckle their seat belts and put their phones down while driving.
We are asking everyone to take the pledge to buckle up and put their phone down while driving!
Also, discuss the importance of putting phones down while driving with your kids
The community in our area with the most pledges can win $3,500 for our school!

7th Grade students have spent a lot of this semester learning about different forms of government. As a fun review, we spent time showing different forms of government with gummy bears! Students had to build a scene with the gummy bears for the different types and describe the type of government on display. The kids had so much fun creating these and got to enjoy a sweet treat.

Help us congratulate these rock stars on being selected to participate in the All-District Band. #WeAreSR3 #SR3Family
