Bikini Bottom officially took over the SHS Performing Arts Center today as our elementary students packed the auditorium for a special daytime performance of The SpongeBob Musical – Youth Edition by Savannah Middle School Theatre.
We aren’t sure who was more excited for the show — Mrs. Free or the PAC full of laughing children! 😄
Today’s performance was a special “Bikini Bottom insiders only” showing for our elementary students—but don’t worry, the doors open to the public tonight!

Ancient Egypt came to life in 6th grade! 🐫📜 To wrap up their unit, students selected three different projects from a wide menu of options—everything from vision boards and songs to research papers, artifacts, maps, and timelines. Each project explored a different topic connected to Ancient Egypt.
The results? A room full of learning about mummies, pharaohs, pyramids, Egyptian gods, the Nile River, and more—all brought to life through student creativity. Students then participated in a gallery walk, leaving encouraging sticky-note comments for their classmates and celebrating each other's work.
Hands-on learning + creativity + peer feedback = a pretty awesome way to wrap up a unit! #SR3Family #WeAreSR3

From the optimistic energy of SpongeBob to the colorful characters of Bikini Bottom, our middle school performers have been working hard to bring this fun, high-energy show to life. If you grew up watching SpongeBob, you’ll catch plenty of familiar moments—and if your kids are new to it, they’re about to discover why the pineapple under the sea has been making people laugh for more than two decades.

Mrs. Whittington gathered duplicate copies so students can check out the same title as a friend — and they are ALL IN. We’re seeing mini book clubs, afternoon reading hangouts, and conversations sparked by great stories. Turns out, when you mix good books with good friends, magic happens. 💛

Savannah High School was proudly represented at this weekend’s Cotillion for Achievement, where outstanding seniors from across the region were honored for their academic excellence, leadership, and character.
Of the 16 area students selected as honorees and 8 finalists, three were from SHS — an incredible testament to the strength of the #SR3Family.
Congratulations to Carlton Crumb, Cole Schweizer, and Jack Roth
Being chosen for this recognition places these young men among the very best in our region, but that was no surprise to us. We are proud of the way they represent our school, our staff, and our community.

By modeling atoms, molecules, and extended structures, students are exploring how individual particles connect, how molecules form, and how repeating patterns create the structures that make up the world around us. With each bond they build, they’re testing ideas, adjusting their models, and figuring out how structure influences properties.
Big concepts feel a little less abstract when you can build them, hold them, and see how they fit together.
There’s a lot of thinking happening around those lab tables — and it’s exciting to watch.
